Practice the profit question
with fictional numbers.
Try Unit 01 for free. Put sales and costs from the same month, channel, and currency into a first-pass calculation, then record what is still unknown and what to check next. No purchase, account, or data upload is needed.
This is a public, fictional SYNTHETIC learning sample. Explore the paid growth plans on the Programs page. The sample does not establish human teaching outcomes, a recorded course, or paid access.
Both files are public, fictional teaching materials in US English and USD. They contain no answer key or instructor material. Downloads stay on your device; this site does not collect your answers.
In this case, net sales = gross product sales − discounts − refunds. Net-sales TACoS = same-month, same-channel ad spend ÷ net sales. This is a teaching definition, not an Amazon console field or attributed-sales ACoS. Estimated operating profit is before income tax, not owner take-home pay; the 10% target margin is only a case assumption. Missing evidence is unknown, not zero. The theoretical ad ceiling is not an instruction to increase spend.
Keep a first draft after three steps.
Read the handout first, then fill the blank workbook cells. Keep your first pass even if you later correct it so you can see which definition changed.
Check the scope
Use the exercise's same-month, same-channel, USD assumptions. Discounts, refunds, and return-handling losses are separate. Sales or cash received are not operating profit.
Calculate six results
In the PDF or XLSX, calculate net sales, pre-ad contribution, post-ad contribution, estimated pre-tax operating profit, net-sales TACoS, and estimated pre-tax operating margin. State each ratio's numerator and denominator.
Draft a decision card
For “Can we raise ad spend tomorrow?”, record what you know, at least two unknowns, the sources and owners to check, and one next verification step. A theoretical ceiling is not an instruction to increase spend.
What will you finish?
A workbook saved on your own device and a first-pass decision card with calculations, estimated results, missing evidence, source owners, and a next check. This is practice, not a reconciled diagnosis of your business.
Mark missing real evidence “unknown”
If orders, refunds, cost of goods sold, platform and payment fees, fulfillment, return losses, ad attribution, allocated overhead, period, or currency have not been reconciled, mark them unknown and name a source and owner. Do not fill gaps with zero or change live campaigns based on this example.
When is a free first call useful?
First check three things yourself: do your six results show calculations for the same month; does each ratio name its numerator and denominator; and does every unknown have a source and owner?
If you cannot tell whether a refund was deducted twice, which month a fee belongs to, or what evidence you need before an ad-budget decision, bring one of those questions. You do not need to submit your answers or company files. The call clarifies one decision; it is not assignment grading or a full profit audit.
A free first call can discuss one decision's knowns, unknowns, and next check; you do not need to book one to use this sample. This page offers no production recommendation, Amazon connection, payment service, or customer-file upload.
